If you waited out the storms Saturday night at the Bullring then you might be a . Track prep was underway when the first wave came in and sent everyone running for cover. Once again the track crew set out to work the track and once again the storms came. It literally poured for over an hour before it was done, producing a river around the track and thru the pits. Bill Cleary and crew went to work and work they did for most of 2 hours to make the suface raceable. Many Thanks to Bill and crew for their tireless efforts to get the event in. Ford, Richie Iverson in the Rocky Buckles red #7. Dave Davis in his beautiful red and white #6. Both the heat and the feature were close races with the feature ending with a photo finish. Richie Iverson would be the benefactor of one of the closest finishes this year as he piloted the Red #7. Rocky Buckles machine mere inches in front of Steve Parrish to take the win with Dave Davis shortly behind them. Hats off to all for seeing it thru and putting on a great show. Ronnie Grubb in his Beautiful Burgandy #4. Carl Doughty in his Red #3, Tommy Gamble in the Beautiful Ford Torino #9. Kelly Jarret in his Black and White #9. Darren Nichols in the 6. X. In the heat race it was Darren Nichols in the Orange and Black 6. X modified taking the win. In the hard fought feature event, Ronnie Grubb took the early lead and fended off several challenges by Nichols in the 6. X until Nichols bounced off the wall and ended up stuck in the mud in turn 4 collecting a couple Orange cones in the process. When racing resumed Grubb assumed the lead challenged by Kelly Jarret in the beautiful #9. Nichols restarted in the rear after the off track excursion and battled Tommy Gamble for 4th and later Carl Doughty in the Red #3 for 3rd before the race concluded. The burgandy #4. Ford wheeled by new member Ronnie Grubb would prevail to take the hard earned feature win. With Kelly Jarret in the Beautiful #9. Nichols in the 6. X recovering to 3rd. Gambler and Ed Johnson in his very popular #3 car. In the Heat race it was Jimmy Miltner in the 4. X4 pulling off the win with Terry Broadus on his heals followed by a 3 way battle for 3rd with Ed Johnson in the #3, Dave Cash in the #9. Josh Rynd in the #1. In the feature race Terry Broadus in his Beautiful yellow #9 jumped out to the lead and did not relinquish it fighting off numerous challenges from Miltner in the 4. X4. At the Checkered flag it was Broadus' Yellow #9 taking the top spot with Jimmy Miltner close behind in the Red 4. X4, Ed Johnson in the #3 would come home 3rd in another 3 way battle with Dave Cash and Josh Rynd. The weather was threatening all evening but we got the show in with some great fun and Great finishes. Bobby Jordan in his Yellow #5 edged out Luke Hill in the #4. Wes Hill in the #9 and Ed Johnson in the beautiful #3 car. John Godwin in the Beautiful # 2. G, Charlie Sanders in the Gorgeous #7. A car, Dan Darnell in the very quick #1. Steve Parish in the beautiful #3. Cory Lane in the black #7. Darren Nichols in the 6. X car, Carl Doughty in the Red #3, Cush Revette in the 7. C Chevrolet, and new comer Kenny Thornton driving the #3. V8s. Racing was fast and furious for the Heat and the feature. Cush Revette spun in the heat race collecting Cory Lane in the process. Cory's black #7. 8 sustained a bent axle and was unable to continue. In the feature race it was Charlie Sanders in the #7. A leading the way for most of the event. Dan Darnell in the #1. Sanders in the 7. A on the final lap and crossed the line first followed by Sanders close behind. Steve Parrish would come home 3rd in another thrilling event. Jimmy Miltner in the 4. X4 made the trip to Eastbay raceway. Both the heat and the feature were exciting with multiple passes for the lead. With a tricky track and weather looming the trio battled it out lap after lap. On the white flag lap Josh Rynd got a launch out of turn 2 propelling him to the lead with Jimmy Miltner in the 4. X4 and Charlie Dean in the Bagatelle #5. Josh was able to hold them off just long enough to cross the finish line first with Miltner and Dean just behind. Tim has been bravely fighting ill health, off and on for years now. We would like to express our sincerest condolences, to his wife Rhoda and their entire family. Rhoda's father Sammy Packard, was one of the founding fathers of Nascar. He was also a DAARA officer back in the day, as was Rhoda. Rhoda was a very active member and driver in our club f.. Tim, was a devoted husband and pit crew chief in the Packard/Blackie race team. We were always happy to see their motor home and rig roll into our DAARA events. Tim never failed to greet everyone with a smile and a few words of both wit and kindness. We have missed both Rhoda and her loving husband Tim, during the last few years, as Tim has been putting up a great fight for health, family and life. Our prayers are with the entire family. Our last event here was a great show with a large crowd, good friends and great food. We are looking forward to seeing you there and hope you can all make it for this one as we put on another great show. Auburndale Speedway. Weather was on our side Saturday night at the Auburndale Speedway. Perfect conditions for a fun night of racing. A large turn out of 2. Pictures will be added to the gallery soon so keep watching for them. Midgets Bob Law in the #5 car, Wes Hill piloting the #9 car and Jerry Paquin wheeling the #1. Thank you all for making the trip. Both the heat race and the feature went off without a hitch. The feature came down to the wire with Wes Hill's #9 machine coming out on top followed closely by Bob Law in the #5 and Jerry paquin suffered some mechanical issues and had to retire the beautiful #1. Cylinders. Chris Hatton in the #1 car, Ricky Taylor in the #0. Kenny Thornton in the #3. Richie Iverson in the Rocky Buckles #7. Fred Robinson in the #7. Richie Gomes in his #2. Steve Parrish driving the #3. Dave Davis in the Flat Head powered #6. This was an excellent field of cars and the racing was intense as always. Richie Iverson driving the Rocky Buckles #7. The Feature event was a good tight race the whole way with battles throughout the field. The eventual winner was the beautiful #7. Fred Robinson. Richie Iverson in the Red #7. Rocky Buckles machine was quickly closing the gap but came up a little short at the line in 2nd with Steve Parish finishing a close 3rd. V8s. Ron Hess in the #3. Tobi Smith driving the #4. Scott Fobes in the #5. Jody Modine in the #4. Darren Nichols in the #6. X, Cory Lane in the black #7. Louis . Thank you all for making the trip to Auburndale. In the feature event, eventual winner Tobi Smith stole the show. Caution came out for Cory Lane when the throttle hung on gorgeous black #7. Cory was OK after the incident. Louis Brashear also had a couple of spins but recovered nicely to finish 2nd after battling back through the field and fending off Jody Modine's late race challenge in the #4. Modine would finish 3rd closely challenging for the runner up spot but noone could touch Tobi Smith's black#4. Sprint Cars. Another outstanding field of Sprint Cars invaded Auburndale Speedway Saturday Night. Dave Cash and the #9.
